Install Lego Digital Designer on Nvidia Jetson

Play with virtual Lego blocks and create your own plans!
This is Lego's official (discontinued) brick design program. With it, you can build your own sets within the editor and paint the pieces any color you wish.
Afterwards, you can generate step-by-step building plans and print them out. Or you could place your creation into a desert background and take a picture of it to share with friends.

This program runs extremely well on RPi. If it launches in 'safe mode', go into the app's settings and drag the slider to the left, then restart the app.

Fortunately, Lego Digital Designer is very easy to install on your Nvidia Jetson in just two steps.

  1. Install Pi-Apps - the best app installer for Nvidia Jetson.
  2. Use Pi-Apps to install Lego Digital Designer.

Compatibility

For the best chance of this working, we recommend using the latest version of Nvidia Jetpack for your specific Jetson (Jetson Xavier, or Jetson Orin).
Lego Digital Designer will run on L4T Ubuntu ARM64.

Install Pi-Apps

Pi-Apps is a free tool that makes it incredibly easy to install the most useful programs on your Nvidia Jetson with just a few clicks.

Open a terminal and run this command to install Pi-Apps:

wget -qO- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Botspot/pi-apps/master/install | bash

Install Lego Digital Designer

Now that you have Pi-Apps installed, it is time to install Lego Digital Designer.
First launch Pi-Apps from your start menu:

Then click on the Creative Arts category.

Now scroll down to find Lego Digital Designer in the list.

Just click Install and Pi-Apps will install Lego Digital Designer for you!
