Install Descent 1 on Linux ARM Device

Descent 1

D1X-Rebirth - source port of Descent: First Strike from 1995
This package installs the shareware version, if you own the full game you can copy the game data to ~/.d1x-rebirth directory (replacing existing files).
To run: Menu -> Games -> Descent 1
To run in a terminal: ~/.d1x-rebirth/d1x-rebirth-rpi -hogdir ~/.d1x-rebirth
To exit: select "Quit" in the game's main menu.

Fortunately, Descent 1 is very easy to install on your Linux ARM Device in just two steps.

  1. Install Pi-Apps - the best app installer for Linux ARM Device.
  2. Use Pi-Apps to install Descent 1.

For the best chance of this working, we recommend using the latest LTS of Ubuntu or Debian from your hardware manufacturer.
Descent 1 will only run on an Ubuntu/Debian ARM32 OS. Pi-Apps will not let you install Descent 1 on an Ubuntu/Debian ARM64 OS.
